The Wisdom of Edgar Cayce
This CD is based on the wisdom of Edgar Cayce . In the book Auras , penned by Edgar Cayce , the seven Solfege Tones (do,re, mi, etc.)are said to correspond to seven Auric Colors. What we also found was that the Auric and Chakra colors correspond as well. Therefore, we use Cayce's musical Solfege Tones in ascending order from Root Chakra to Crown Chakra in live performances of Chakra Mediation.

People reported feeling the energy in the room and their bodies shift. (Testimonials)

The musical keys Lord's Prayer Meditation correspond to spiritual centers described in Cayce's interpretation of the Lord's Prayer. (Source: Meditation and the Mind of Man by Herbert Puryear, Ph.D. and Mark Thurston, Ph.D)

Ancient Instrument Tuning
The unique quality of Edgar Cayce, Sounds For Meditation is due to the Ancient Tunings used during live performances. Normally, it is not possible to perform live using Ancient Tunings on modern instruments without retuning them each time a new chord is played!

I have found the solution to this dilemma has been to program a keyboard work-station in such a way as to allow live performances using these Ancient Tunings
....something that has not been done before!

Blending Ancient and 21st Century Technologies
Now, for the first time there is a performance of meditation music which blends the Edgar Cayce Scale with Ancient Tuning and 21st Century Technologies. Many people are using this music in various relaxing and healing atmospheres for an uplifting and enjoyable spiritual, mental, and physical experience!

Music has been an important part of my life ever since I can remember. This love of
music caused me to promise myself as a young man that any job I took would always
be music related. Unfortunately, the yearly grind of playing keyboards in bars seven
nights a week for a living would eventually cause me to recoil at the thought of playing
music or going to a bar. In fact, I came to the conclusion that the whole “music thing”
was something I could definitely do without!

Fortunately, I was convinced by my uncle Howell that music was “in my blood” and that I would be a miserable human being if I were to give up playing professionally. “What you need,” he said, “is a work skill that can be profitable and yet allow you the flexiblity to choose creative musical projects that inspire you....perhaps you might consider studying Piano Technology.”

At that time, Dr. Howell Branning was assistant Dean of Music at the University of
Texas at Austin. He outlined a plan in which he would take me through an accelerated
college course curriculum over the coming summer break and give me the basics to
work as a piano tuner/technician. I don't believe either of us knew what an impact he
would have on my life!

I found uncle Howell to be a passionate and engaging mentor. He loved the violin and was always busy playing in or conducting an orchestra somewhere. During our talks together, he was always ruminating about some ancient historical tuning. I remember him telling me that the Greeks, notably Pythagoras (500 B.C.), had a great impact on how ancient music sounded. My uncle was fascinated by the historical development of various tuning theories and the profound effects these tunings had on the evolution of music that came out of Europe between 1000 A.D. and 1800 A.D. As a young apprentice, such esoteric subject matter had little practical value to me, although it was all very interesting. I would smile as he nudged my mind with the gift of a book here or an article there....about tuning ratios that few people used.

Then it happened. I attended a Piano Technicians Guild meeting where there were
seven pianos tuned in the alternate tunings. I sat transfixed as Adeste Fidelis (Oh,
Come All Ye Faithful)
was performed in the pure tone tuning it was originally written to
be played in. The performance was an uplifting experience that moved me physically,
mentally, and spiritually.

I became fascinated with the possibility of composing and performing music on a keyboard instrument using alternate tunings. I wondered, “ might music played in an Ancient Tuning be used to harmonize the body, mind and spirit? “ At the time, I knew of no instrument able to perform such music in a live setting and even if it could be performed, what form would it take? I didn't have a clue. Then in 2004, Carl Bohannon, the co-director of the ARE Center of Houston, introduced me to Edgar Cayce's book Auras. The Edgar Cayce, Sounds for Meditation CD is a result of our work together. I am thankful that I am able to share this music to the benefit of all concerned and look forward to God's blessings as they unfold.
