Do you ever think about how much music directly affects your every day life?
In today's modern world, music is everywhere! Music is playing in the background when we shop at the grocery store or in the mall. With the advent of mp3 players, like the iPod, music is more a part of people's lives than ever before! From the time we wake up until we go to sleep at night music influences the way we feel and what we think about!
The best musicians have always known that the conscious intention behind a musical performance affects the listener physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually; even though the listener may be totally unaware of that fact.
As a music professional,I have written and produced music for radio and television. I, and other professionals "in the business", know first hand what a powerful tool music is and how to use our craft to communicate with people to sell a product or idea.
The testament to music's effectiveness as a communication tool is the fact that today's Music Production Business is a multi-billion dollar world-wide industry! I'm not saying that the power of music to influence the listener is a bad thing....only that it is a reality we should all be aware of!
For those of us who are interested in using music to promote physical, mental, emotional and spiritual harmony, it behooves us to be aware that the music we surround ourselves with can exert a powerful influence not only on on how we feel each day, but also our outlook on life in general. Listening to uplifting music with positive themes tends to make us feel better than listening to harsh music with negative themes.
In my workshops, I do an exercise to demonstrate the power that a singer's conscious intention has on the listener. The audience is divided into two groups "A" and "B". Each group take turns singing a simple song like "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" to the other group: first while holding a positive intention statement such as " I'm glad you're here"; and then while holding a negative intention statement such as "Go Away, I Don't Want to See You".
While we all have a good laugh, most people easily feel the energy in the room shift when the intention changes from a positive to a negative one. Music that makes you feel, nervous, sad, or angry probably has an underlying negative intention behind it. Listening to this kind of music all day long can make it hard to concentrate, sleep or deal with stress effectively.
On the other hand, music that has a positive intention behind it will make you feel upbeat, happy and full of energy. Music with both positive and negative intention comes in all flavors and genres from Classical to Pop to New Age. Let your body and your feelings be your guide!
It is important to note that Edgar Cayce, Sounds for Meditation was created with a conscious, positive intention for healing and balancing. The intention that is held while this music was performed in the studio is one of several reasons why SFM is so effective for relaxation, meditation and healing work.
" ......great for rebalancing the physical body. Use it every night as you fall asleep. Every massage therapist should have this CD! Watch your clients melt on the table and increase the benefits they experience from your work."
Katherine Miculka, Ph.D, RMT and Founder of Wellness Connection
“The first time I heard Sounds for Meditation was at a party in a room full of people...and it stopped me in my tracks! These tones have a “centering effect” and reach right down to a person's inner core. Very calming. Fantastic for meditation.
David Burns, Nashville Recording Engineer
"I got the CD Sounds for Meditation several years back. I had been taking medication to help me sleep for years and I figured I had nothing to lose in trying it out. When I first listened to the CD it had a calming effect on me right away. It helped me sleep with less medication that first night. I continued to experiment with the CD and used less of the medicine as time went by. I would definitely recommend this CD to anyone and everyone. Listening to it regularly will help "even things out" and get your body back into a more 'aligned state'. The more you use it...the better you will feel."
Patricia Bond, Paradigm Brokers
"While playing your CD in our kennel, I observed that the dogs don't bark as much, the cats don't meow as much, and all of the animals are more calm and serene."
Dr. Robert D. Vaughn, II - DVM

“I listen to Sounds for Meditation regularly. It's amazing how the tonal qualities are sensed and picked up by the body....how your body uses them in finding that peaceful place within. You have to experience it to understand.
Elizabeth Berman, Director of Business Development of a Fortune 500 Company
“Even if I don't have time to relax while listening, I can feel my body opening up as my Chakras are aligned. The CD also helps clients to come into balance much faster! What a blessing! Thank you.”
Cathy Chapman, Ph. D, Certified Body Talk Practitioner
“Helps me to move into meditation faster and easier.”
Ed Jamail, Coordinator, A.R.E. Center of Houston
"We listen to the CD in the evening to unwind, relax and prepare for meditation. Our dog Duke likes it as well and immediately relaxes as soon as it starts playing."

“I have had the pleasure of enjoying Edgar Cayce, Sounds for Meditation by Jim Commander for about a year now. The first time I heard it, at a Cayce retreat…it grabbed my soul in an instant. I said, “What is that? I must have it, NOW!”
I find its more than music..it provides a beacon to calm and focus my mind. I can sit at the computer and get much done when I have it on….I am more effective, creative and experience less fatigue.
I know enough about music to appreciate the brilliant theory, enough about Cayce to honor its source, and enough about my feelings to recognize what moves me. This CD is a must in any seeker's personal library. I appreciate Jim's meticulous and heartfelt efforts to create this music for a world that desperately needs it.”
